Selling & Distribution
Distribution (POD & Ebooks)
Print on demand (POD)
POD distribution uses digital printing technology to produce a single book to meet a single order. In the past, traditional printing methods required that an author committed to large prints runs in order to make the process cost-effective, but today it’s as easy to print one copy as it is a thousand.
Type & Tell has a distribution deal with Ingram Content Group, a company with a distribution and printing network spread across the globe. In practice this means that when a customer or a bookstore wants to buy your POD book, the bookstore will place an order for the book to the nearest printing house with your book on file. Upon receiving the order, the book is printed immediately and shipped to the bookstore or directly to the customer, depending on the buyer’s wishes.
This is a cost-effective, simple and risk-free way to get your book into a global market.
However, it's worth remembering that, while printing books one-by-one is cheaper than it was, unit costs of POD are still higher than with bulk printing and this can influence your price and profits. You can calculate the price of printing your books here.
The advent of digital publishing has revolutionised the book trade and means that it is now easier and cheaper than ever to get your self-published titles sold and read all over the globe.
When it comes to ease and global reach in book sales, e-books have revolutionised the market in the last decade or so. Nowadays, publishers publish e-books alongside their print releases as a matter of course, and we all know stories of self-publishing authors who have become huge success stories on the strength of their e-book sales alone.
Selling your e-books has never been easier – via Type & Tell your e-book will be available in all major e-book stores in the world. Our partnership with Ingram Content Group gives our authors the chance to have their books bought, downloaded and read on Kindle, Apple, Nook, Kobo, or any mobile device you can imagine.
