How to Write and Publish a Book

Publishing your own book can seem like a daunting task. Whether you’re an experienced writer or you’re embarking on a novel for the first time, it’s difficult to know where to start when you don't have the know-how on how to go about the whole process. Here at Type & Tell, we make the whole self-publishing process easier for authors by walking with you through each stage. We have a unique online book editor designed to give you total control while turning your text into         a book file.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            The book editor is formatted in a similar way to the standard Word Document, and you can either write your manuscript directly onto it or upload a piece that you’ve completed via another platform. You’ll be able to design the interior layout of your book and choose a format that best suits your particular genre. Becoming a well-known independent author is entirely possible in this day and age. Here are some key tips on how you should go about beginning the process.

Start with an Idea

Write down some ideas for your book and select the best one from your list. Some writers start by writing a single sentence for inspiration and then build on the story day by day. Others take months or even years coming up with and formulating a story before beginning the actual writing. In either case, writing down ideas is a great way to begin arranging your thoughts.

Don’t Fear Errors

While working on our book editor, your work is auto saved and the draft histories remain easy to access. To create a great story, you should write first and then go back to look for errors later on. Constantly looking back at your work might create the urge to alter everything that you have already written. You can write the whole piece then check over it, or save it as a draft and use it as a reference when writing the final manuscript for publishing. At first, you should put your main focus into character and plot development.

Set Your Goals

You can write at any time and from any location using our Book Editor. Setting a daily writing goal will ensure that you don't abandon your project. Writing, however, should never be a demanding and stressful task. You could decide to write 400 words or for a period of 3 hours every day. The important thing is setting a minimum target depending on your writing ability and availability. Setting daily goals coupled with great diligence will produce amazing results for you.

Using our Book Editor is completely free. At Type & Tell, we are driven by the need to provide new and upcoming writers with an opportunity to get their work out to the public. You can access the book from anywhere and the files are always print ready. Once you have finished your manuscript, you should edit, double-check and design an inspiring book cover. You should be sure to pay close attention to your editing as this can make or break your whole book When you are done, give your work a final check and think about how your pricing and book metadata can be used to create sales.

Choose Your Publishing Package

Once you’re set to publish, Type & Tell will guide you through the process. We have three publishing packages available for you to choose from. These packages include T&T Basic, T&T Plus and T&T Pro. The T&T Basic package is for authors who may be taking their first tentative steps into publishing, wanting to produce a small number of books but not sell widely. Conversely, the Plus and Pro packages come at a higher cost, but are packed with a host of features to allow you to market and sell your book across a number of platforms.

You can access your final print-ready files after purchasing one of our three publishing packages. Our Book Editor gives you files in a full PDF format and EPUB2 e-book files. The files then belong to you and they can be used in any way you please. For those who wish to sell their work through book retailers, we offer a global distribution service at an affordable price.

To ensure that your books are produced to a professional standard, we have a team of publishing experts at hand to provide a technical review of your book files. This review is not a proofread of your work, but a confirmation that the formatting of your book has been done correctly.
